The love and care of oneβs parents play a crucial role in a childβs life. Parents provide children with the confidence and fulfillment needed to become healthy and productive adults. Not having this safety and security can be a child’s biggest challenge.
Over 100 million children around the world have been orphaned due to world circumstances and personal tragedies. As a result, they are often neglected, socially isolated, suffer from trauma, and live in poverty. With nearly 5,700 children becoming orphans every day, it is clear each one of us needs to step up and play a part in relieving their distress.
Abu Darda (ra) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH.) said: βBring the orphan close to you, pat his head, and feed him with the same food you eat. It will soften your heart and fulfill your need.β
World Orphans Day raises awareness about the plight of orphans and underprivileged children. Each year, on November 13th, individuals and organizations are invited to observe this day by being a voice for the needs and rights of these innocent and forgotten children. Initiatives that give them access to basic human necessities, education, and life skills and encourage sponsorship and adoption are essential for a brighter and more hopeful future.
Last year, HHRDβs Orphan Support Program provided care for 24,450 children in Palestine, Syria, Jordan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kashmir, Indonesia, Kenya, Haiti, and Sri Lanka.Β $1/day sponsors an orphan and ensures their needs are met through food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, education, and financial support. *Beginning January 1, 2024, orphan sponsorship will increase to $1.67/day.
This World Orphans Day, letβs make a lasting impact on a child’s life.
Sponsor an orphan, change a life.
