For a student who has overcome loss, displacement, or poverty, a university acceptance should open a door—not become another dream they cannot afford.
HHRD’s Higher Education Support Program helps deserving students take that next step. Through scholarships covering tuition and pocket money, HESP gives talented young people the support to pursue degrees in Medicine, Engineering, IT, Accounting, and more—turning years of determination into opportunities for lasting change.
Your support goes beyond a degree. It helps a student build independence, uplift their family, and give back to their community.
HHRD – Higher Education Support Program is the bridge that protects and empowers high-achieving students coming from vulnerable, refugee, and orphaned and non-orphaned families at the most critical moment of their lives—keeping them safe from the pressures that force so many of them to abandon their dreams. HESP closes the gap between learning and earning, giving students the knowledge, confidence, and skills to build stable futures. Through HESP, we provide full scholarships covering tuition and pocket money, ensuring that graduates of our Education Support Program, Orphan Support Program, and highly deserving undergrads can continue their education without interruption. Today, they are pursuing degrees in IT, Medicine, Engineering, Accounting, and more—supported throughout their five‑year journey and prepared to step into careers that uplift their families, strengthen their communities, and reshape their futures with dignity.
Our scholars come from modest orphan/non-orphan families who have always struggled. They carry hopes that once felt like nothing more than a dream. Yet today, these resilient, determined grads are entering the global job market as engineers, doctors, tech nerds, teachers, and leaders.
These youths have once faced impossible odds. Now they stand ready to give back, to serve, and to break generational cycles of poverty.
This is the impact your sponsorship makes possible. When you support HESP, you are not just funding a degree. You are giving them an ultimate exit strategy that changes everything for their family, who have only ever asked for a chance.

Education protects refugee children and youth from forced recruitment into armed groups, child labor, sexual exploitation, and child marriage. Education also strengthens community resilience.
Education empowers by giving refugees the knowledge and skills to live productive, fulfilling, and independent lives.
Education enlightens refugees, enabling them to learn about themselves and the world around them while striving to rebuild their lives and communities.

Bashar Killawi, recounts his challenging journey. Having lost his father in Syria at the age of five, Bashar and his family sought refuge in Jordan amidst the war’s turmoil in 2012. Their struggles continued until they found support through Helping Hand. Sponsored by the Orphans Support Program in 2016, Bashar excelled academically with a strong desire for learning. Despite financial constraints, Helping Hand extended aid through Higher Education Support, granting him a full scholarship to pursue Artificial Intelligence at Alzarqa University. Graduating in 2023, Bashar secured an opportunity for a postgraduate master’s degree in Japan, sponsored by (JICA) Japan International Cooperation Agency – Jordan Branch. Expressing profound gratitude to Helping Hand’s donors, Bashar looks forward to embarking on his Master’s journey in Japan in 2024. He conveys blessings and appreciation, acknowledging the pivotal role of generous donors in his success.

Yes. Scholarships can be named after loved ones, foundations, or businesses.
Most degrees are 4–5 years. Donors may support annually or commit to full program duration.
Yes—academic reports, progress updates, and student stories are shared throughout the year.
Because HHRD supports students from childhood to university, ensuring continuity, mentorship, and long-term success.
Yes. The Higher Education Support Program (HESP) is fully Zakat and Sadaqah eligible because the beneficiaries are:
• Orphans
• Students from families below the poverty line
• Individuals who qualify under Masarif e Zakat as fuqara and masakeen
Funds are distributed directly toward their essential educational needs.
Islam emphasizes empowerment, not dependency.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “The upper hand is better than the lower hand.” (Meaning: the one who gives is better than the one who receives.)
HESP embodies this principle by:
• Transforming a Zakat recipient into a Zakat giver
• Turning vulnerability into strength
• Creating long-term independence rather than short term relief
• Uplifting entire families for generations
Supporting higher education is one of the purest forms of Sadaqah Jariyah, because every
student taught, every life improved becomes part of the donor’s ongoing reward. Insha’Allah.
